The Best (Last?) “Haunted” Version of the Lavender Town Theme You’ll Ever Hear

As far as rumor-generators go, Pokemon seems to be the leader in that regard.  One such rumor that seems to keep popping up is the story behind the Lavender Town theme.  The claims behind the song range from plausible to the outlandish, from causing minor headaches and discomfort to dementia and death.  But stumbling on this gem revealed a new level of depth to the whole mantra.  Read the description in the video to your delight for the traditional creepy vague fare, but the video itself is the real find. A (Very Fake) Half-Life 3 Countdown Clock *PARODY ALERT*

In our staff’s daily scouring of the internet and neglecting of their families on Easter Sunday, they’ve stumbled across a bit of a gem.  This countdown site seems to provide a countdown until release/announcement of Half Life 3.

While obviously a loving parody of recent VALVE promotions (It claims punching yourself in the head counteracts Valve-time) there are smaller “Easter Eggs” to be found.  On inspecting the source code, we saw this: <!– I see you. –>

Now that’s terrifying…

Amalgamation of Concept Art from Doug Church/Valve’s “Mass Effect Killer”

Doug Church/Valve's "Mass Effect Killer"

So, remember a while ago when Valve hired Doug Church?  Deus Ex Doug Church?  Thief Doug Church?  System Shock 2 Doug Church?

The stylized art art from most likely a reference board presents a strange view on the familiarities of a dystopian futuristic setting.  Mass Effect killer possibly, maybe?  Extremely too soon to tell.  But it remains intriguing nonetheless.

Images after the jump. (more…)

Dragon’s Dogma: Why Aren’t You Talking About This Game?!

Dragon's Dogma: Why Aren't You Talking About This Game?!

Do you like Monster Hunter?  Do you like Demon’s Souls?  Ever wonder what would happen if they both went to a party, had a few too many drinks, and had a wondrously passionate night of fictional drunken sex?  And then afterwards, Monster Hunter got pregnant and pressured Demon’s Souls to take responsibility for the child?  And, after a begrudging shotgun ceremony courtesy of Capcom, a game-child was born a bloody screaming painful birth, wrenched from the loins of Monster Hunter?

Ever wonder if this analogy had gone on long enough? (more…)
